HTC bio coal in soil –

Breakthrough Study about bio coal derived by Hydrothermal Carbonization (HTC) in poor soils and related long term greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. 2-times less CO2 and 20-times less N2O emissions compared to direct application of organics in the soil.

Results comparable with Pyrolysis treatment, with best effect on N2O avoidance, the strongest GHG.

HTC can be applied on organic waste -> avoid GHG emissions of landfill sites -> generate high value soil conditioner -> carbon sink in soil -> improve soil quality
